Easy & Delicious Whipped Blue Cheese Steak Sandwich
Everyone loves when I share a new steak sandwich recipe and this Whipped Blue Cheese Steak Sandwich is everything you dream of! It is made on fresh sourdough, has juicy steak, caramelized onions and a creamy roasted garlic whipped blue cheese.

Steak sandwiches are a perfect week night dinner because they come together quick and make for delicious leftovers! You can use almost any type of steak you have on hand and have dinner on the table in 20 minutes.
I think there are four compontents that make up the perfect steak sandwich. Starting with the bread. Always opt for homemade if you can. I love a good sourdough for an extra layer of flavor. Next, is the steak. Of course this is the star of the show, so be sure to use a good quality cut. We like to use striploin or ribeye for a juicy, tender bite. Following that, is a creamy cheese of some sort to balance out the salty and savoury meat. In this case its a roasted garlic whipped blue cheese that is absolute perfection. The final component is some sort of flavor enhancer or topper. I often like to add somehing that will give a bit of sweetness to balance out the sandwich. Think jammy balsamic caramelized onions.
Whether you use beef steak. venison or any other wild game, this steak sandwich is sure to have you falling in love with every bite!

Whipped Blue Cheese Steak Sandwich Ingredients
Steak– You can use beef, venison or any wild game you like. I recommend using a qaulity cut like tenderloin, striploin or ribeye.
Sourdough Bread– Homemade sourdough bread is the perfect vessel to build this sandwich on for an extra layer of delicious flavor!
Bacon– I love adding fresh, crispy bacon to this steak sandwich for some crunch and extra saltiness.
Blue Cheese- This gets whipped with cream cheese and roasted garlic, giving it the perfect creaminess.
Roasted Garlic– You can make this by cutting the top off a full head of garlic, placing it in a baking dish, covering with a generous drizzle of olive oil and wrapping in aluminu foil. Bake at 400F for about 20-30 minutes.
Cream Cheese– I add cream cheese to the whipped blue cheese for texture and to make the blue cheese falvor slightly more mild.
Olive oil– You need some type of oil in the whiped blue cheese to help it blend nice and smooth. Olive oil or avocado oil will work.
Onion– A yellow or white onion will be best for making carameized onions.
Balsamic vinegar– This is added to the onions while they caramelize for enhanced flavorr and a bit of tang.
Maple Syrup– I include just a drizzle of maple syrup in the onions o develop even more sweetness.

The Steps
1.Sart by seasoning the steaks generously with salt and pepper, then set aside at room temperature.
2. Next, make the whipped blue cheese. Add all of the whipped blue cheese ingredients to a food processor and blend until smootha and creamy. You can also use a handheld blender if you have one.
3. Once the cheese mixture is nice and smooth, set it aside.
4.Heat a cast iron skillet on high heat with a couple tbsp of butter. Once the pan is nice and hot, sear the steaks on each side for 3-5 minutes. Remove the steak when the internal temp reached 130F for medium rare or 115-120F for rare.
5. Allow the steaks to rest at room temperature for 5-7 minutes before thinly slicing.
6. While the steaks are resting, caramelize the onions. Add the onions to the skillet you cooked the steaks in and cook on medium low heat for 5 minutes. Add in the balsamic vinegar and maple syrup and cook for a couple more minutes before removing from the heat.
7. Finally, lighty toast the sourdough with some butter, then layer on a generous spoonful of the whipped blue cheese, the thinly sliced steak, a couple slices of crispy bacon and those sweet caramlized onions. Serve immediatley and enjoy!
