Best Ever Creamy Venison Tortellini Soup
The cold weather is finally here and this Creamy Venison Tortellini Soup is the perfect dinner to warm you up! It is easy to make, and full of nourishing ingredients with tons of flavor. The whole family will love it!

In this house, unless a soup is hearty and filling we don’t want it! It must be full of meat, have tons of flavor and leave you feeling full. That is exactly what this creamy Venison Tortellini Soup is!
This sounds starts with whatever kind of ground wild game meat you have. Anything from venison, to moose, to elk or sheep will be delicious. It then gets browned with Italian Spices and juicy sun dried tomatoes. You toss in your favorite tortellini, fresh spinach and finish it off with a touch of cream and parmesan cheese. It doesn’t take a ton of different ingredients but is still full of flavor.
If you aren’t a fan of tortellini and want to use homemade pasta, you can absolutely do so. You can also use ground beef if you do n to have access to wild game meat. We like to serve it up nice and hot, topped with extra parmesan, fresh basil and a nice warm sourdough bun on the side.

Tips for Making Perfect Venison Tortellini Soup
- If you want your tortellini to stay more firm, you can skip adding it to the soup, and boil it on the side. Store the soup and tortellini separate for leftovers and sere the soup over the tortellini.
- Use fresh garlic as opposed to pre minced garlic. This will give you a much better flavor, plus it is better for you!
- If you have the time, I always recommend simmering your soup for 15 minutes or so after it is made. This just helps it develop extra flavor as everything melds together and gets it nice and creamy.
Cream Venison Tortellini Soup Ingredients
Ground Venison– As mentioned above you can use ground venison, moose, elk or any ground game meat you have.
Tortellini– I like to use beef tortellini for extra protein, but any meat or cheese tortellini will work. Can also sub with regular pasta if you want.
Sun Dried Tomatoes– You can buy pre sliced or whole sun dried tomatoes in oil. I like to use the whole tomatoes in oil as I find they are the juiciest with the most flavor.
Spinach– This is mainly for color and nutrients. You won’t taste it much. I like to use baby spinach.
Broth– A chicken broth or beef broth will work. You will want to adjust the salt depending on how salty your broth is.
Parmesan Cheese– Fresh grated is ideal. If you are using pre shredded, make sure it is the fine shredded so it will melt nicely.
Cream– Any cream will work from half and half, to heavy cream. You can also use milk if you want, it will just be slightly less creamy.
Cream Cheese– This adds an extra layer of creaminess.
Italian Seasoning– Using an Italian Seasoning blend adds great flavor while keeping it nice and simple.
Chili Flakes– I love these for a slight bit of kick in this creamy soup. Can adjust the amount depending on your preference.
Garlic and Onion- Fresh garlic and onion and flavor, while browning the meat. White or yellow onion is best.
Basil– Adding fresh basil on top when serving adds a delicious, vibrant flavor. You don’t want to cook this in the soup, as basil holds its flavor best fresh.

The Steps
- Start by heating a pot over medium heat with a couple tbsp of oil.
- Then, add in the onion and garlic and cook for about 3 minutes.
- Once the onions are tender, add in the ground venison and brown until almost fully cooked through.
- Next, add in the Italian seaoning, salt, pepper, chili flakes and sun dried tomatoes. Stir everything together and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour the broth into the pot, then add in the tortellini. Cook over medium heat for about 6-8 minutes or until the pasta is al dente.
- Finally, add in the spinach, cream, parmesan cheese, and cream cheese. Stir until the soup becomes creamy, then turn down to simmer, place a lid on the pot and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- Spoon into soup bowls, then top with more fresh grated parmesan, fresh basil and you favorite buns. Enjoy!
