How To Make The Best Prawn Poke Bowls
These Prawn Poke Bowls are insanely easy to make, healthy and loaded with flavor! Juicy marinated prawns, served over rice with fresh vegetables, avocado and a spicy mayo sauce that is to die for. I simply will never get tired of these.

We are huge Poke fans in this house and while we love ahi tuna, it can be really expensive to buy! That’s why I love these Prawn Poke Bowls. You get all of the delicious components of a poke bowl but with delicious, juicy marinated prawns that do not cost an arm and a leg.
The Prawns are marinated in a simple sauce with flavors like sesame oil, soy sauce, chili, ginger and garlic. You can marinade them for anywhere from 1 hour to overnight. Simply sauté them for a couple minutes and they are done! This bowl is gluten free, dairy free, high protein and makes great make ahead lunches for your week.
Grab whichever kind of prawns are your favorite, and get ready to enjoy the most delicious Poke Bowls right at home!

Prawn Poke Bowls Ingredients
Prawns– You can use any type of prawns or shrimp that you like. I like to buy the tail off ones for easier cooking and prep.
Sesame oil– This is such an essential flavor of a poke marinade.
Soy Sauce– Regular soy sauce is great, but if you need gluten free you can use tamari.
Rice Vinegar– As always, a good marinade needs some acidity. Rice vinegar is the perfect choice to compliment the sesame oil.
Chili Paste– I promise this isn’t too spicy but adds great flavor to the prawn marinade and the spicy mayo.
Honey- You can use honey or maple syrup for just a touch of sweetness to this marinade.
Ginger & Garlic– The fresh aromatics are the final touch to make this marinade perfect. Always use fresh when you can over pre minced.
Rice– A white rice of your choosing is best for these poke bowls. I recommend a jasmine rice or if you want something even stickier you could opt for a sushi rice.
Fresh Vegetables– You can use all of these or omit any that you don’t like. Cucumber, carrots, cabbage and avocado are my recommendations.
Mayo– If you can find it, Japanese Mayo (kewpie mayo) is the best for anything sushi or poke related! It comes in a clear squeeze bottle with a red cap.
OPTIONAL: Pickled ginger, sesame seeds, roasted seaweed or green onions for extra toppings.

The Steps
1.Start by marinating the prawns. Spread them on a pan or plate and pat dry with paper towel, then place into a bowl.
2. To a small measuring cup, whisk together the next seven ingredients until combined. Pour the sauce all over the prawns and gently toss to coat them in the sauce. Cover and place in the fridge to marinated for minimum 1 hour or up to over night.
3. When you are ready to cook, heat a cast iron skillet on medium heat. Add the prawns to the pan and cook for a couple minutes each side until no longer translucent and light pink in color. You can pour any sauce from the bowl into the pan as well while the prawns are cooking.
4. Finally, stir together all of the spicy mayo ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
5. To build the bowls, law a bed of rice in each bowl. Top with carrots, cucumber, cabbage and avocado. Add a large spoonful of the prawns and top with spicy mayo, pickled ginger, sesame seed and seaweed. Enjoy!
