The Best Easy & Healthy Morning Glory Bars
If you love finding new treats and snacks to make that are full of nourishing ingredients, you need to add these morning glory bars to your list! They are so quick and easy to make and give you warm flavours like carrot cake and apple pie in a healthy snack bar.

I find that so often healthy treats are made using things like nut butters and chocolate. While those are delicious, I love to switch up the flavor combo for something a little lighter. These healthy morning glory bars do just that. They are full of fresh apple, carrots, warm spices and hearty oats.
To make these bars, it is incredibly simple. Start by mixing the wet ingredients, including maple syrup for a natural sweetener. Then you add in a combination of almond flour, oats and oat flour for the base. Finish the bater off with some delicious mix ins like shredded apple, carrots, nuts and pecans. Bake in a square pan until golden then you have the option to top with a simple little cream cheese glaze.
I love making these bars to keep in the freezer for healthy snacking through the week. They are packed with vitamins and fibre so you can feel good about feeding them to your family! Think apple pie oatmeal meats carrot cake and that’s what these bars are!!!

Tips For Making Perfect Morning Glory Bars
- When mixing the batter, I like to mix it with my hands after I add the apple and carrot. It is a thick batter, to using your hands can really help get everything evenly incorporated. You could also use a stand mixer if you like.
- After the bars are baked, I recommend allowing them to set in the freezer for a little while before slicing them. They are a nice soft and moist bar, so cutting them while warm can result in bars that fall apart.
- You can enjoy them plain, but adding a little cream cheese glaze takes them to the next level. This can be a traditional cream cheese icing or if you want something healthier follow mine in the recipe card.
Morning Glory Bar Ingredients
Oats– Quick oats or rolled oats work in this recipe.
Butter– You can use salted or unsalted. If you want these dairy free, sub with coconut oil.
Maple Syrup- These bars have lots of natural sweetness but the addition of a bit of maple syrup keeps them refined sugar free while adding a little extra sweetness.
Egg– One egg helps hold the bars together.
Almond Flour– Using a combination of almond flour and oat flour gives to the perfect gluten free bars without them being dry.
Oat Flour– You can pre made oat flour, or simple blend up oats in your blender until a fine powder.
Shredded Coconut– I like using unsweetened but you can use sweetened if you like.
Apple– Any kind of apple you like will work. I recommend avoiding the more tart varieties like Granny Smith.
Carrot– These also add a subtle sweetness and give that lovely carrot cake flavor.
Pecans– You can sub will walnuts if you prefer.
Dates– I like to add these for a bit of chewiness. Use dates or raisins. You can also omit if you prefer.
Spices- Cinnamon and ginger give these bars a classic carrot cake taste.
Baking Soda– Just a touch, helps bring some rise to these bars.

The Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350F and grease and line an 8 inch square pan with parchment paper.
- Start by adding the melted butter, maple syrup and egg to a large bowl. Whisk until combined.
- Then add in the almond flour, oat flour, oats, baking soda and spices. Stir until you get a thick dough.
- Finally, add in the remaining ingredients and mix well to get everything evening combined. I like to use my hands but you could use a stand mixer too.
- Press the dough into the prepared pan, so it is nice and smooth on top.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes or until golden around the edges and mostly firm throughout.
- Place the bars in the freezer to cool and set for 30 minutes or an hour before slicing.
